a series of unlikely events

Our friends, Wendy and Tane, went to China for a few months holiday. They left their flatmate in charge of their kitten, Bella. Now, Bella was already prone to disappearing from their inner city apartment and either ending up getting locked in retail shops overnight or turning up several blocks away - often near cafes or restaurants.

So, it was little wonder that Bella bunked off during the first month that Wendy and Tane were overseas and was to be proclaimed dead, presumed missing from about that time on. [There were several unsuccessful attempts to track her down, but as days turned in to weeks searches became pregnant with futility.] Bella was gone.

Upon return the travellers dealt with their grief in typical pet lover's fashion - after a few weeks to a month of further futile searching Wendy and Tane got a new kitten... called Whiskers. And that was that.

... or so it should have been.

But this afternoon on our way home from school Casey, Braedan and I were hanging out with Greg on our favourite radio show ... More FM [used to be our favourite radio station until the demise of Nick, Blair and KM's breakfast show]. We'd never heard one before on this station but Greg announced a community notice ... some vague description of a lost cat found on the corner of Grey St and Naylor. Hmmm, I asked Casey: "What colour was Bella?" as I'd only really seen her once and hadn't really taken much notice.

Anyway - short story long - we kinda punted that it was worth following up to see of this cat that had been found 6 kilometres away from where Wendy and Tane lived, and three months after going missing, could actually be Bella. Unbelievably it was!

Epilogue:
Bella and Whiskers living inharmoniously at inner city apartment.

on the move

Oops. Somehow I let the apostrophobia domain expire - must've missed a notification. Went to renew it two weeks later and someone was squatting on it. So, considering I only ever put stuff apostrophobic related on the homepage - and rarely updated it, I thought I'd just let it go. Will be interesting to see if anyone actually makes something of the domain. A search on 'apostrophobia' shows that a number of folk have added this to their lexicon.

Anyway, with the demise of that site where this blog was appended it was time to move to 2media - my old business website.
